Yesterday’s Japan Times had an article about insect cuisine in Japan. A man named Shoichi Uchiyama has published a new recipe book called Tanoshi Konchu Ryori (Enjoyable Bug Recipes) that has attracted a lot of media attention here.

His blog is in Japanese, but there are dozens of photos of bizarre dishes made with insects. Here are a couple of samples:

These rice crackers are made with bees, silkworms, and caterpillars.

Fried noodles made with Japanese grasshoppers from Taiwan.
