Long-time resident in Japan (since 1993) but originally from Canada. Has written guidebook chapters, magazine articles, tons of blog entries and even a book about less-known aspects of Japan. In his free time, he loves photography, cycling, and exploring interesting and obscure places around the Kansai area.
Nice photo, certainly a rare sight. One tooth Tengu geta 5-6 inches high (15 cm) are not especially difficult to walk in, but ones that high are pretty terrifying as you can’t rest the toes on the ground for stability when needed. Sometimes you’ll see them at a festival, but the wearer nearly always has a staff and/or assistant to lean on when they stop.
