This beautiful old inn in Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site in Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Long-time resident in Japan (since 1993) but originally from Canada. Has written guidebook chapters, magazine articles, tons of blog entries and even a book about less-known aspects of Japan. In his free time, he loves photography, cycling, and exploring interesting and obscure places around the Kansai area.

These old houses are really cool. I also saw these at the old village called Ouchijuku on the way to Aizuwakamatsu.
The beautiful photo of the old house, had me to stop and look around. Thanks for your post is very interesting.
Really?! I still am taken aback that this keeps happening these days. I am very happy I was sitting down for this. We need to know for the future. Lets keep an eye on the issue moving forward.
