These tiny specialty shops can be found all over the place in Japan. Passing by, you can’t help wonder what it’s like to sit on an uncomfortable little stool in a workspace that can be as small as 2 square meters. There is an entire arcade full of these shops in Tokyo’s Akihabara. Go out the Akihabara Electric Town exit, and the arcade starts on the right hand side.

Very interesting. Not sure I understand where the customer stands. Seems like there’s a bench full of merchandise in front of the counter.

Exceptional post however , I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this topic?
I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit further. Thanks!
I was just shopping in this area last weekend. M – the customer stands were the photographer was standing. It is an aisle where they can go from shop to shop. The owners are very helpful, if they don’t have something in their stock they’ll point you to the vendor that does.
Great shop, we don’t have these in the Netherlands.
